The Effect of E-portal System on Corporate Image of Universities
Internet connectivity in tertiary institutions in Africa has been summarized in three characteristics - too little, too expensive and poorly managed (African Tertiary Institutions Connectivity Survey (ATICS), 2006 report). The Internet portal system offers educational organizations the ability to track students’ needs and promote their programs and plans. This paper examines the effect of portal systems in promoting the corporate images of Universities, whereby Six Universities in Nigeria were used as an example. Survey was adopted as the method and six hundred respondents were randomly selected for this study. Three hypotheses were tested and analyzed using t-test and correlation analysis. The paper recommended that was a dire need for universities to engage the services of expert web-designers with regard to effective projection of their corporate image through graphics, colour letterin
Newspaper Reportage and its Effect towards Promoting Agricultural Development in Nigeria
This study examined the coverage of agriculture between January and December (2007) in the Nigerian
press. The method adopted was content analysis and 288 issues of 3 selected newspapers were analyzed; Guardian, Tribune and Punch. 5 research questions were raised and adequately substantiated on newspapers coverage of agricultural programs and development in Nigeria. The findings of the study however, revealed that the Nigerian press did not give sufficient coverage to issues on agriculture in comparison to other sectors of the Nigerian economy. Furthermore, the paper observed that issues on agriculture did not receive favourable coverage by the newspapers. The paper therefore suggests that the press should endeavour to give adequate attention to various issues on agriculture as well as its developmental programs in its reportage so as to facilitate sustainable
development in agricultur
The Dysfunctional and Functional Effect of Celebrity Endorsement on Brand
The ever increasing brand multiplicity and competition on the market of goods and services have dictated the pace of growth in the usage of celebrity endorsement across the globe. The use of celebrity endorsement has become a prime brand communication strategy in organizational management that aids the sale and promotion of brands across the globe. It is a popular approach in marketing communication for all brand management. This paper examines celebrity endorsement as a brand communication tool that serves as an aid to expedite brand image and purchase. However, it can also become horrific unless accompanied by a powerful idea, effective and impeccable positioning
Performance Evaluation of Two Palm Kernel Nut Cracker Machines
In this study performance evaluation of centrifugal impact approach and vertical palm
kernel nut cracker machine was carried out. The results of the study show that the
vertical centrifugal palm kernel cracker is more efficient than the centrifugal impact
approach palm kernel cracker. The efficiency of Vertical centrifugal palm kernel
cracker is 71.3% and that of centrifugal impact approach is 50.38%. Apart from this,
the vertical centrifugal machine though has low speed but it produces clean and neat
nut cracked output
Design and Development of Vapor Absorption Refrigeration System for Rural Dwellers
In this study, the experimental analysis of the performance of vapor absorption system was developed
and developed. The influence of generator, evaporator and condenser’s temperatures on the system
performance was studied using gas burner as source of energy, ammonia-water combination as working
fluid and energy equations as governing equations for the work. There was variation in the results when
compared with the earlier worker who used kerosene burner as source of energy and ammonia-water
combination. Result of this study shows that if higher cooling capacity and also lower evaporator`s
temperature are desired from the system, generator`s temperature should be increased considerably.
Also the combination of an analyzer, rectifier and heat exchanger would produce better COP of the

PERCIEVED SOCIAL SUPPORT OF STREET BEGGARS IN LAGOS METROPOLIS
The situation of street begging in Nigeria is appreciated with different
categories of beggars found at motor parks, religious worship centres, markets,
road junctions, venue of ceremonies and worst still on the university campuses .
The situation is quite embarrassing with efforts of governments in curbing the
menace of street begging not yielding fruits. The present study examined the
perceived social support of street beggars. It adopted the descriptive research
of the ex-post facto type. A random sample of three LGAs was selected and
516 participants took part in the study.out of these participants there were
311(60%) males and 205 (40%) females. Hausas were 284(55%), Yorubas
were 162(31 %), lbos were 40(8%) and others were 30(6%). The age ranged
from 12-65 years with standard deviation of 38years. All the participants
reported low perceieved social support. The findings revealed no significant
difference in gender , tribes and age groups in perceived social support. It was
recommended that families, government and non-governmental organisations
should weave social support round the beggars. It was concluded that formal
and informal organizations, as well as grass-roots movements, should be
recognized as partners in the construction of social support for beggars
Internet and Citizen Journalism:Perspectives and Issues in the Global Broadcast Landscape
The use of participatory journalism to re-invent broadcasting outlets is common trend among media professionals and experts. This paper examines the use of citizen journalism in the production of news contents for broadcast media outlets. Based on principles from Democratic Participant Media theory, the paper argues that participatory journalism can serve as a watchdog to the development process of a nation. Also, this paper examined issues that affect global media outlets that make use of citizen journalism to produce news contents. The authors suggest that citizen journalism should be seen as a tool to re-invent professional media practice. It is an inevitable practice evident on the internet that can be used to promote national developmen
Global News Coverage on Victimization and Challenges of Roma Migrants from Romania: An Experiential Study
The issue of Roma migrants from Romania has generated debate and discussion among
media experts, scholars and policy analysts across the globe. The socio-cultural implications of this
issue have triggered an increase of reports and commentaries on international news television
outlets across the globe. Interestingly, there have been various qualitative and quantitative studies
on social mobility of migrants in Europe. However, there is paucity of research investigations on
communication perspectives on the issue of victimization and challenges of Roma migrants from
Romania. Thus, the need to generate empirical evidences on the rise and fall of media report on the
experiences, motivations, and ambitions of Roma migrants from Romania is critical, considering
the fact that the dramatic increase of Roma migrants in Western Europe is alarming. This study
examined global news coverage on socio-cultural issues of Roma migrants from Romania, using
Youtube videos as examples. Furthermore, this study examined the audience mindset on global
news coverage of Roma migrants. The method adopted was content analysis and 12 news videos of
three selected global TV outlets were analyzed; British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Cable
News Network (CNN) and Aljazeera. The timeline adopted for the analysis was between June 2014
and March 2016 to achieve the objectives of the study. Also, four research questions were raised
and adequately answered in this study. From the findings of the study, three predominant sociocultural
challenges affecting the Roma migrants were identified and discussed, which are ethnic
marginalization, structural poverty and racial bias. It was recommended that non-government
agencies and concerned bodies should work hand-in-hand to provide structures for skill acquisition
and human capital inclusion. Furthermore, the EU should reinforce its benefit systems for Migrants
as well as partne
Fatty Acids Composition of Three Different Vegetable Oils (Soybean Oil, Groundnut Oil and Coconut Oil) by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography
Edible vegetable oil were extracted from three sources; soyabean, groundnut and coconut. These oils were processed for fatty acid analysis using high performance liquid chromatography. Three saturated fatty acid were present. Palmitic acid; (C16;O) range from 2.092% in coconut oil to 4.756% in groundnut oil, stearic acid (C16;O) range from 1.496% in soya bean oil to 12.075% in groundnut oil. Monounsaturated fatty acid was also obtained. Oleric acid (C18:1) range from 8.584% in coconut oil to 12.722% in groundnut oil. Polyunsaturated (essential) fatty acid identified was linoleic acid (C18:2 Omega-6) at concentration ranges of 5.654% in soyabean oil to 9.198% in groundnut oil. The result showed that the three samples are good sources of two essential fatty acid (lauric and palmitric acid). The predominant component of soyabean oil and coconut oil was myristic acid (C14:O) (41.039% and 33.544% respectively). The highest fatty acid component of groundnut oil is lauric acid (C12:O) at 14.567%. Keywords: Soybean oil, Groundnut Oil, Coconut oil, Fatty acids, HPLC
Bernstein Least-Squares Technique for solving fractional Integro-Differential Equations
In this paper, a numerical technique for solving fractional Integro-Differential Equations (FIDEs) is presented. The fractional derivative is considered in the Caputo sense. The proposed method is Bernstein Least- Squares Technique (BLST) via Bernstein polynomials as basis functions. The suggested new technique reduced this type of problem to the solution of a system of linear algebraic equations and then solved using MAPLE 18. To demonstrate the accuracy and applicability of the presented method, some numerical problems are provided. Numerical results show that the method is easy to implement and accurate when applied to FIDEs. The graphical solution of the method is displayed
